Another Asian fern that is a favorite fern of Dr. John Mickel, as it is a strong grower that remains evergreen and attractive even in winter with its dark green, glossy heavy textured fronds throughout the year. Nearly all Dryopteris species that are evergreen may be weighted down with fallen leaves and snow, but this species will remain erect and perky all winter. New fronds are a gorgeous apple green and change to their typical dark green as they mature. It is so special that it is included in the Mickel Collection™.
