Branford Rambler Fern

Branford Rambler Fern

Athyrium Branford Rambler, the Branford rambler fern, is another painted fern relative from Dr. Nick Nickou’s garden in Branford, Connecticut. It is predominantly a rich green with wine colored highlights on the midrib and stem. This is one that will creep about and be welcome in loose woodland moist composty soil. The deciduous 12 to sometimes 24 inch fronds are held horizontally so serve well as a unique warm colored ground cover. For an interesting garden portrait combine all of these painted types for a colorful party in Zones 4 to 8.
