Dyce’s Holly Fern

Polystichum x Dycei

Dyce's Holly Fern

Polystichum x dycei, Dyce’s holly fern, is a hybrid between Polystichum proliferum and Polystichum braunii that was created in a British lab and has been a great success in gardens. The exuberant evergreen fronds are dressed to the ground in foliage and reach 3 to 4 feet at maturity. Each frond has one or occasionally more bulbils at the tip that will produce a new plant when pressed into soil. Prior to tissue culture propagation this was the only means for increasing the population. Here is a robust plant that always attracts the attention of visitors and settles easily into the landscape in Zones 6
