Hairy Flowering Fern

Anemia tomentosa

Hairy Flowering Fern

The Hairy Flowering Fern (Anemia tomentosa), is a rarely-offered unusual evergreen from the Southern Hemisphere. Protected by hairy foliage it is especially suited for hot and dry areas normally considered non fern-friendly. This low-growing evergreen will spread slowly amongst rocks and rubble where it finds the good drainage it needs. The handsome triangular sterile fronds extend somewhat horizontally and give rise to the “flowering” fertile stalks which house the spores.
