Marsh Fern

Thelypteris palustris

Marsh Fern

The Marsh Fern (Thelypteris palustris) has a strong preference for swampy habitats, making it a very aptly-named deciduous species.

Where space permits, Marsh Fern is great for roaming around the contours of a pond or wetland where moisture is a necessary ingredient. Fronds of a blush green will reach 18″ to 30″ when happy and can take over in either sunny or shady settings.

Native to much of North America from the Dakotas eastward as well as many parts of Europe this fern is robust and will easily adapt to many climates from Zones 2 and higher.
